Wolves

Wolf Cub is the second step of Cub Scouting and is for boys in second grade. Cub Scouting means doing, and everything in Cub Scouting is designed to keep the boys on the go! Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting: citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness.Those of us who were Tigers in first grade have already earned our Bobcat badge. Any new Wolves that join us this year will need to do that first thing!

Once a Cub Scout has earned the Bobcat badge, he may start earning his Wolf rank. To earn the Wolf badge, a boy must pass 12 Achievements involving simple physical and mental skills:

2. Your Flag
3. Keep Your Body Healthy
4. Know Your Home and Community
5. Tools for Fixing and Building
6. Start a Collection
7. Your Living World
8. Cooking and Eating
9. Be Safe at Home and On the Street
10. Family Fun
11. Duty to God
12. Making Choices

Along the way, Wolf scouts can earn Progress Beads. For completing the requirements in 3 Achievement areas, one gold bead is awarded and placed on the Progress Towards Ranks fob, for a total of four beads to earn the rank. The red beads you see below will be added during the Bear year.

We will work on some of these Achievements at home, with our families. Others we will complete as a den.

After earning the Wolf badge, the Scout may earn gold and silver Arrow Points by completing additional achievements and electives.

It is traditional (but not required) for Scouts to earn their rank by February, so that they may receive it at the annual Blue & Gold banquet. This gives them the remainder of the year to work on their Arrow Points.

The Academics & Sports program provides further opportunities for recognition, as do awards such as World Conservation and Leave No Trace.
